Level 3 Certificate in Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care

Qualification number: 600/0048/X

Take your first step into adult social care. This qualification is an ideal starting point if you are new to the sector or new to work altogether, giving you the knowledge and confidence to apply for care roles and to understand what the job really involves before you begin.

You do not need to be working in care to take this qualification. Unlike our diplomas, this is a knowledge-based certificate assessed entirely through written portfolio work — there is no workplace observation and no requirement for a care job or placement. That makes it the right choice if you are looking to enter the sector and need a recognised qualification first.

You will study communication, personal development, diversity, equality and inclusion, safeguarding, duty of care, the role of the social care worker, person-centred approaches, health and safety, and handling information. By the end you will have a nationally recognised Level 3 qualification and a clear understanding of the standards expected in adult social care.
